The theme lecture "Cross-border · Empowerment · Future: The New Era of Art Design and Smart Living" came to a successful conclusion

On November 27, 2025, the School of Art of Shanghai Zhongqiao Polytechnic University successfully held an academic lecture with the theme of "Cross-border · Empowerment · Future - 'Art Design and  Living in the New Era'" in Room 204 of Building 10. This lecture specially invited Liang Xiao, the deputy general manager of Shanghai Pudong Dongdaoyuan Comprehensive Maintenance Co., LTD., to be the keynote speaker, and was hosted by Yan Lina, the director of the Environmental Art Design Department of the School of Art. General Manager Liang Xiao is currently a senior engineer. He has been deeply involved in the field of landscape architecture and engineering design for many years. With his profound professional accumulation and practical achievements, he has been awarded important honors such as the first "Top Ten Outstanding Young Landscape Architects in Shanghai" and the second "Outstanding Young Engineering Survey and Designer in Shanghai". His industry influence and professional attainments have endowed the lecture with high academic value.



At the beginning of the lecture, the speaker, Liang Xiao, introduced to the students the background of The Times regarding the digitalization of space, the mediacization of experience, and the intelligence of communication, and imparts relevant knowledge about four major trends: urban renewal, AI empowerment, intelligent interactive experience, decentralization, and ecological awakening. Further broaden students' knowledge horizons, stimulate innovative thinking and enhance practical abilities.



During the practical case sharing session, the speaker Liang Xiao took "The Design of the Urban 'Reception Hall' from the Past Industrial Memory of Suzhou River to the Present" and "The Design of the Water Stage and Light Show on the West Bank of Shanghai from the Past Industrial Memory to the Present" as examples to introduce the changes of urban renewal design from 1.0 to 2.0. These classic cases fully demonstrate the ingenious integration of humanistic care and technological warmth, and the students expressed that they had gained a lot.

During the Q&A session, teachers and students focused on the question, "What kind of era are we living in?" " In an era of diverse integration, how can one enhance oneself and possess innovative thinking and interdisciplinary capabilities? Questions on various topics were raised enthusiastically. The speaker, Liang Xiao, and the director of the Environmental Art Design department, Teacher Yan Lina, answered them one by one from a professional perspective, allowing for more beneficial and in-depth thinking through the collision of ideas.



This lecture, with art as the bond and technology as the engine, injects new impetus into the development of living. Participants all expressed that this lecture not only broadened their design horizons but also sparked boundless imagination about living. In the future, the College of Art looks forward to the participation of more innovative forces to jointly write a new chapter for human settlements.
